Only 4 hours from Cape Town on Route 62, the longest wine route in the world, is Calitzdorp the Port Wine Capital of South Africa. Nestled amongst the vineyards overlooking Calitzdorp is the magnificent Calitzdorp Country House. It is beautifully furnished with antiques and offers spectacular views across a valley of orchards to the majestic Swartberg Mountains.
Our luxurious accommodation includes five air-conditioned bedrooms with king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms and a private patio. The Italian-tiled bathrooms include large showers, twin washbasins and outsize baths. Crisp linens, soft fluffy towels and gowns all add to your feeling of pampered care. After a spectacular Klein Karoo sunset, delight in a gourmet meal and end the evening by enjoying some of Calitzdorp’s best Port Wines.
Calitzdorp Railway Station, nestled between vines on one side and a kranz on the other, offers travellers an idyllic space to rest before venturing forth to explore the surrounding Route 62 area. With the Ticket Office, Safari Tents, Backpackers and camping spots offering a wide variety of accommodation options.
The Station also offers facilities to host functions and has been the choice venue for film shoots, weddings, birthday weekend getaways,weekend workshops, bikers clubs weekends,the local Winter Festival in Calitzdorp, and the annual Art on Track Exhibition.

Die Handelshuis Guest House is a historic building built in the late 1800s in the charming village centre of Calitzdorp. The building houses a coffee shop, a clothing store, a gift shop and comfortable accommodation for a small family.
The Green Room has a spacious open-plan design and can accommodate three people. The room has an en-suite bathroom and a private balcony leading out into the treetops. There is safe parking behind large gates and guests can enjoy breakfast in our charming restaurant.
A unique cottage built of straw situated on the edge of a vineyard just outside Calitzdorp. This is a good option for those seeking a combination of privacy and a sense of luxury.
This straw-bale cottage has been created using materials from its surroundings, combining all the elements of traditional Karoo building techniques. This eco-friendly cottage offers comfortable accommodation for two guests. There are braai facilities outside as well as basic cooking facilities.
